When a gas is compressed below a "critical temperature," liquefaction occurs. This gas liquefaction requires removal of sensible and latent heat over a wide temperature range using a heat transfer medium. Liquefied gas can then easily be stored, trucked away or re-injected into the pipeline until it is used.
